But even legends grow weary. His faithful valet, Lupo (Omid Djalili), warns him that the Doge’s inquisitors, led by the terrifying Pucci (Lena Olin), are building a case. “You have seduced every woman of standing in Venice,” Lupo says. “Pucci will burn you at the stake for ‘impious lewdness.’” The only escape, Casanova realizes, is marriage—a respectable, dull, permanent marriage. “And have you
