Introduction: The Divine Return After nearly two decades, the legendary Dragon Ball franchise made its long-awaited return with Dragon Ball Super . Premiering in 2015 as a manga and anime series, Super picks up where the original manga left off—following the defeat of the fearsome Majin Buu. The truth is horrifying. Zamasu, a prodigy who despises mortals for their violence, used the Super Dragon Balls to switch bodies with Goku, killing the real Goku and his family. He then traveled to Trunks’s timeline and murdered the Gods of Destruction and Supreme Kais there, ensuring no one could stop him. Only Whis’s ability to rewind time by three seconds saves them. Vegeta lands the killing blow, but Goku ultimately delivers the final mercy: he has Whis transport Frieza back to Hell, where he remains for now. But this is no ordinary martial arts tournament; the prize is the Super Dragon Balls—planet-sized orbs that can grant any wish without limit.
