However, Iraqi girls engage with entertainment content under dual pressures: conservative tribal/religious social norms and the state’s failure to provide safe public spaces. This paper examines three key areas: the role of private chatting apps as “safe indoor spaces,” the consumption of Turkish and Gulf entertainment media as escapism and education, and the rise of local female content creators navigating moral boundaries.
