This paper examines the economic and social dynamics of token-based adult live-streaming platforms, focusing on performer autonomy, audience interaction, and platform governance. Using MyFreeCams as a case study (referred to as “Platform X”), the research draws on publicly available terms of service, industry reports, and qualitative interviews with anonymous performers. Findings highlight the gig economy’s impact on digital sex work, the role of virtual tipping in labor relations, and the paradox of “empowerment” versus algorithmic control.
