The rise of free downloads has significantly altered the gaming industry's business landscape. This paper examines the effects of free downloads on the gaming industry, focusing on the case of Sifu Switch NSP, a popular action-adventure game. We investigate the motivations behind players' decisions to download games for free and the consequences for game developers, publishers, and the industry as a whole.
